Elementary // Love Week 1

Memory Verse:
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.” 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NLT)

Definition

Love: Love is patient, kind, and lasts forever!

God’s faithful love endures forever

Questions to Ask Your Child

READ PSALM 136

  1. What do you think the writer of this psalm wanted us to remember? (God’s faithful love endures forever!)

  2. Let’s look at that phrase. What does the word “faithful” mean? (Constant, trustworthy) What does it mean to “endure”? (To keep going and stay the same even when it’s hard) How long is “forever”? (There is no end, always)

  3. Look at verse 24. What are some ways God has shown His love by protecting you?

  4. Reread verse 25. How does God show His love by providing for you?

  5. When you think of all the ways God loves you, how can you respond like verse 26? What can you do to tell God “thank you” for how He loves you?

Activity

Read Psalm 136 again. As a family, write your own version of Psalm 136 to remind you of how God has shown His love for you in your lives. How has He loved you by protecting and providing for your family? How do you feel knowing He knows all about you and still loves you anyway? Which of His promises remind you of His great love for you?
